When Cherie Anthony and her partner Mike Buchanan started thinking of moving home they never thought they would end up buying a brand new house. However they have just moved into their new four bedroom house at Banner Homes’ Whitehorse Park development in Banbury, Oxfordshire and have completely fallen in love with it.
Comments Cherie, “When Mike and I started to discuss moving home we both decided that we would really like to buy somewhere that was a bit of a ‘project’ for us to do up. We both work from home so even with the challenge of working around an unfinished home we were adamant it was the route for us and had decided that we didn’t want to buy new. We started to do research on the internet and came across Whitehorse Park and thought how different the new homes look so decided it was worth taking a visit, rather than rule it out.
We fell in love with the new homes at Whitehorse Park
“We had been renting in Banbury for the past 24 months while my 19 year old son was at Banbury College so knew the area well and the great travel links are just what we need for work. When we visited Whitehorse Park we just fell in love with it, we really liked the fact that the homes on phase 2 are set around a private courtyard and the way they have been built to look like traditional farm houses is superb. We both love interior design and really wanted somewhere that we could decorate from a blank canvas.
“We couldn’t praise Banner Homes more, particularly their sales advisor Jan who was so attentive to us throughout our move, helping us every step of the way. The attention to detail and specification in our new home is superb. Whitehorse Park allows us the best of both worlds; we are not in the centre of Banbury but are close enough to be able to walk in if we want to.”
The homes are built with excellent craftmanship
Whitehorse Park is a selection of three and four bedroom terraced homes set around an attractive courtyard. The homes at Whitehorse Park are designed with meticulous attention to detail and combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design to create the ‘homely’ feel that families desire.
The homes have accommodation over three floors. The living spaces are versatile and well planned, offering different zones in which each member of the household can live their lives, suiting growing families and those in need of space for visiting family and friends.
The ground floors of the homes are dominated by a large lounge area, together with a good size kitchen/breakfast room, that comes complete with stainless steel integrated appliances and ceramic floor tiling. This floor also includes a separate cloakroom. The bedrooms are then split over two floors. The upstairs areas include three or four bedrooms featuring a master bedroom complete with fitted wardrobes and sizable en-suite shower room or bathroom. There is also a family bathroom located on the first floor and in some homes a second en-suite located on the second floor along with a further bedroom.
The development is ideally positioned close by to a number of primary and secondary schools including Hanwell Fields Community School and Banbury School. Additionally, the location offers plenty of pursuits to keep everyone from tots to teenagers occupied, ranging from local parks to a leisure centre in Banbury.
Whitehorse Park is also an excellent location for those wishing to commute with easy access to the M40 which will take you to Birmingham and the north or London and the south. It is also close to Banbury railway station with express trains to London Marylebone in just over an hour. For trips further afield, Coventry Airport is approximately 20 miles away.
The new show home at Whitehorse Park is now open. Only four homes are now available in Phase 2 of Whitehorse Park. Prices start from £287,950 for a four bedroom, three bathroom terraced home rising to £309,950. The show home is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5pm. It is a well known fact that location, location, location is one of the major factors when buying a new home so when Brian and Carole Thorne spotted the first ‘coming soon’ signs at Banner Homes’ development Lock View, Teddington, Middlesex they knew they had found the perfect place to live.
Lock View is perfect for us
Carole Thorne continues, “Brian and I had lived in our family home on Hampton Hill for 28 years and with our son moving to America and our daughter buying a home in Twickenham we felt it was the perfect time to downsize. We have always liked Teddington and the surrounding areas and were really keen to live by the River Thames. When we saw the first signs go into the ground at the development we spoke to local agents Snellers about the best way of securing our new home. We decided to proceed as cash buyers so in January 2010 we put our family home on the market and moved into a rented riverside apartment.

“Lock View ticks all the boxes for us; it is the perfect location with restaurants and boutiques in Teddington and excellent communication links to London and airports within easy reach. It is also a brand new apartment which was exactly what were looking for. It means that everything will be in working order and high tech with all the latest in safety and security. As well as moving into our brand new home we decided to sell all our furniture from our old house and start with a clean canvas. It has been really exciting looking for new furniture to fit our new lifestyle.”
The new apartments are selling quickly
Donna Littman of selling agent Snellers comments, “Over 60% of the apartments at Lock View have now been reserved. This is likely to be the last exclusive new build riverside development in Teddington so now is an excellent time to buy. We are anticipating it won’t take long before all the apartments are sold so those interested should view quickly before it is too late.”
Lock View comprises 15 exceptional one, two and three bedroom apartments including a stunning three bedroom penthouse apartment, with some of the apartments benefiting from views of the River Thames and Teddington Lock. The apartments boast the excellent quality of build and specification that Banner Homes has become well known for. Each apartment features professionally designed contemporary kitchens with fully fitted appliances including a built-in coffee machine while the bathrooms include stylish white Villeroy and Boch sanitaryware with chrome fittings. There is also basement parking with lift access to all floors including direct access to the penthouse.
Teddington is an extremely sought after place to live in Middlesex. It has a distinctly cosmopolitan feel, offering an excellent choice of cafés, bars, restaurants and shops. There are a number of gyms to choose from too, with Fitness First, Teddington Pools and Fitness Centre and the prestigious Lensbury Club closest to home.
Teddington is also particularly well connected. The M3, M4, A4 and M25 provide direct and rapid links to central London, Heathrow Airport and beyond. Teddington station, a comfortable walk from Lock View, offers four trains into London Waterloo every hour, with journeys taking approximately 25 minutes via Richmond and 35 minutes via Kingston upon Thames.
Kingston-Upon-Thames is perhaps the area’s largest shopping and entertainment destination, while Richmond is well known for high class boutiques in an historic setting. Both are ideal places for fulfilling days or lively nights out. Neighbouring Twickenham is world renowned as the home of English rugby and host to many international fixtures each year.
Lock View is surprisingly close to the countryside. The meadows of the Ham Lands Nature Reserve opposite are well known for their abundant wild flowers and wildlife. Richmond Park and Bushy Park are perfect places for a breath of fresh air in beautiful surroundings.
Prices start at £350,000 for a one bedroom apartments; from £685,000 for a two bedroom apartment and £1,250,000 for the final three bedroom apartment. The show apartment is open daily from 10am to 5pm. For further information please call 0208 943 2990 or visit the website lockview.co.uk. Leading independent house builder Banner Homes is continuing its success with the acquisition of Hill Village Road, a further new development site in the Sutton Coldfield area. Banner Homes has already established a firm hold on the market with the success of Belwell Grange and its current development Edge Hill Grove.
Banner Homes has an excellent reputation in the area
Mark Booth, Regional Director of Banner Homes Midlands comments, “We are establishing an excellent reputation in the Sutton Coldfield area with the success of our first two developments. Our next site is expected to launch in 2011 and further opportunities are currently being considered. We are also very interested in discussing possible acquisitions with any land owners in the area.”
Banner Homes has already received planning permission at Hill Village Road to build 5 houses and work is expected to start next year. A planning application for five houses has also been submitted for Bennett Road.
Since the launch half the homes have been sold
Since the launch of the show home in November almost 50% of the 11, five bedroom homes at Edge Hill Grove on Edge Hill Road have been reserved. Ideally situated just six miles north of Birmingham City Centre, the homes at Edge Hill Grove will blend beautifully into their leafy Four Oaks backdrop. There are also excellent communication links with frequent services to Birmingham New Street in 20 minutes and access to a network of roads. Schools in the area are of a high standard.

These latest acquisitions signal Banner Homes’ continuing investment in new opportunities and follows a successful year for the Beaconsfield-based house builder. So far this year Banner Homes has completed 23 new land deals with a further few expected shortly. Of the 23 acquisitions this year, 13 have been bought with planning permission and the remaining 10 are subject to planning deals.
Banner Homes has been building since 1975 and has achieved a considerable reputation for developing homes of traditional quality on sites ranging from individual detached houses to developments of 100 dwellings and more. The company operates three regional divisions, Midlands, Central and Southern, which gives Banner coverage of the whole of the southern half of England.
Banner Homes continues to search for new land opportunities throughout the Midlands and southern England. For further information, visit www.bannerhomes.co.uk/we-buy-land

Banner Homes will be launching the show home at its latest development, Lambourne Gate in Burnham, Buckinghamshire on 8th and 9th January 2011 and already three of the 13 four and five bedroom detached homes have been reserved from plan.
Luxury new homes in lovely village setting
Comments Shelley West, Sales Director for Banner Homes Central, “Lambourne Gate offers the best of both worlds; it is set within the heart of Burnham village which offers the best in village life with two local butchers, a bakers and a jewellery store. In addition it has access to the major road networks of M40, M4 and M25 giving easy access to the centre of London and the rest of the country.

“The homes will be built to Banner Homes’ high specification and attention to detail that it is renowned for. With already three reserved from plan, we are expecting a great deal of interest when our show home opens in the New Year.”
Gated development setting
The homes at Lambourne Gate are set within a gated development. Plot 1, the five bedroom show home consists of large kitchen, breakfast, family room, sitting room, separate dining room and study on the ground floor. The first floor has a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and separate dressing room, second bedroom with en-suite shower room, two further bedrooms, laundry room and family bathroom. The second floor has a large TV room, fifth bedroom and shower room. It also has an integrated double garage.
Continues Shelley; “Some of our homes at Lambourne Gate also include a laundry room on the first floor. This is a feature we have introduced to many of our homes over the past few years and they have proved extremely popular. Purchasers have found it makes life easier having the laundry room on the same floor as bedrooms.”
New homes set in idyllic setting with excellent communication links
Within just a mile or so of Lambourne Gate are the renowned ancient woodlands of Burnham Beeches which cover more than 500 acres where you can enjoy leisurely walks and cycling – and there are plenty of opportunities for horse riding both here and in the immediate surrounding area.
In and around the village of Burnham itself, there are plenty of restaurants and country pubs. For true gourmets, the delightful village of Bray – next door to nearby Maidenhead – boasts the Michelin three-star restaurants of TV’s Heston Blumenthal (The Fat Duck) and the famous Roux brothers’ Waterside Inn.
The area has excellent primary schools and Burnham has kept the grammar school system. With its exceptional academic record, Burnham Grammar School is a big attraction for the area.
Like a ‘real’ village, Burnham has some ‘real’ shops – in addition to the Tesco Express and other convenience stores – including two butchers, a bakers and a jewellers. There is even a traditional street market and fishmongers every Wednesday, and all this is about a ten-minute walk from Lambourne Gate.
There are of course the usual high street names and retail parks for serious shopping, as well as cinemas, leisure centres and a range of sports facilities in the neighbouring towns of Maidenhead and Windsor, just over four and six miles away respectively.
Impressive among the credentials of Lambourne Gate are the handy road links with London, Heathrow Airport and the M25, M40 and M4 motorways. Rail links into London Paddington are also superb, taking a little over half an hour, whilst Burnham will also be on the planned west-to-east Crossrail.
Prices at Lambourne Gate range from £675,000 to £815,000. Please join us for champagne and canapés on 8th and 9th January 2011 to celebrate the opening of the show home. Banner Homes has been awarded a Silver for Best Brownfield Development at this year’s What House? Award 2010 for its hugely successful development, Posbrook Farm in Titchfield, Hampshire. The luxury development was created from the transformation of a group of derelict farm buildings into just 10 three, four and five bedroom homes including deluxe refurbished homes as well as new build, all set within a prestigious gated setting.

Committed to building high specifcation quality homes
Nicki Dennis, Sales and Marketing Director for Banner Homes Southern comments; “We are extremely delighted to receive this award. From the start of the development we were keen to maintain the architectural heritage of the site allowing the farm’s rustic charm to dictate the architectural vernacular of the new homes we built. The result is a great blend of both new and old that seamlessly fits together in a site with character and integrity.”
On awarding Banner Homes the silver the judges stated “Posbrook Farm consists of renovated buildings, including a Grade 11 listed medieval barn, and new structures built in the local vernacular with sympathetic materials such as hand-made clay roof tiles, slate, red brick and stained black wood cladding. One particularly impressive structure – which on first inspection appears to be a skilful barn conversion – is actually a new-build designed to look like a renovation.”
Attention to detail is key for Banner Homes
“A wide range of house types and sizes are linked with well thought-out landscaping giving a sense of cohesion, and the new build elements are well integrated in terms of both appearance and placement.
“A genuine and palpable sense of community has already developed at Posbrook Farm, evidence of the successful transformation of what was once a forlorn and derelict site for all its charming rural setting.”

Banner Homes is one of the country’s leading independent house builders. The business started in 1976 with the earliest developments being in and around High Wycombe. Since then it has grown to encompass three regional operational centres in the Northern Home Counties, the Southern Home Counties and the Midlands.
Banner Homes Southern currently has homes for sale at Casbrook Fields, Michelmersh, Hampshire; Kirtling Place, Winchester, Hampshire; Two Houses, Poole, Dorset; Beechwood Heights, Beech, Hampshire; Saxon Gate, Burghfield, Reading, Berkshire; Chestnut Grove, Midhurst, West Sussex.
