Banner Homes sympathetic development wins permission for 60 homes at Clewborough House

Banner Homes has announced it has been granted planning permission for 60 new homes on the former Clewborough House School site at Frimley Green, near Camberley in Surrey.

The 14 acre site will be developed across only 5.5 acres with the balance being handed over as open space and woodland areas as mitigation land(SANGS) to help preserve the Thames Valley Special Protection Area (SPA). The SPA status of the area in Surrey Heath Borough means that large scale development is rarely permitted and the special circumstances that Banner Homes can offer makes it one of only two such residential sites (of over 9 units) granted permission in the past few years.

The scheme will include 15 homes that will be designated as affordable housing and provide an opportunity for key workers such as nurses and teachers to purchase equity within or rent one of the new homes.

Banner’s sympathetic approach extends not only to the sensitive development of the site but also to a commitment to the local community. As part of the development Banner will also contribute to over £400,000 for various local facilities including improvements for facilities for Teenagers at Frimley Recreation Ground, library, community and re-cycling facilities in the District as well as public transport vouchers and contributions towards the future maintenance of the SANGS land

The acquisition signals Banner Homes’ continuing investment in new opportunities and follows a record year for the Beaconsfield based house builder. In 2009 Banner completed 35 similar deals making last year the most successful ever for the company’s land team. As discussed at meeting this can be editors notes

Banner Homes has been building since 1975 and has achieved a considerable reputation for developing homes of traditional quality on sites ranging from individual detached houses to developments of 100 dwellings and more. The company operates three regional divisions, Central, Wessex and Midlands, which gives Banner coverage of the whole of the southern half of England.

Banner Homes continues to search for new land opportunities throughout the Midlands and southern England. For further information, visit www.bannerhomes.co.uk/we-buy-land
