Banner Homes launches development exclusively for over 55s at Glebelands.

Wokingham’s best kept secret.

Banner Homes is shortly launching a new development, exclusively for the over 55s. Set in the grounds of Glebelands, a family home built in 1897 by one of the famous architects of the era, Ernest Newton R A and now a retirement home for The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF), Banner Homes will be building one and two bedroom apartments and cottages exclusively for the over 55s in the heart of Wokingham.

Sympathetically designed to be in keeping with the neighbouring Grade II listed building, the apartments and cottages are styled to blend in with the leafy surroundings but have all the technology and high quality specifications required for modern day living. Residents of Banner Homes’ development will also be able to have full enjoyment of the stunning grounds, including the sensory garden and rose garden.

Shelley West, Sales Director for Banner Homes Central comments, “Glebelands can be described as Wokingham’s best kept secret, being tucked away in one of the town’s highly regarded districts and almost encircled by mature trees. The development will provide the best of both worlds with a communal clubhouse, complete with kitchen and large TV, where residents can come together and hold social events and regular clubs, but still have privacy and space within their own apartment or cottage.

“We have already experienced a high level of interest for our new development Glebelands, so have brought forward the launch to give those interested a chance to preview the plans and make an early reservation for a limited time only. We will then have an official launch of the marketing suite and show apartment in the summer.”
Brian Robertson, Chief Executive of The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund comments, “We are very pleased to be working in partnership with Banner Homes to bring this wonderful development to Wokingham. Glebelands will be an extremely sought after place to live, giving residents everything they need, with its short walk to the town centre where all amenities are available including Waitrose, but being able to return to the peaceful haven of Glebelands.”

The properties at Glebelands will be built to a high level of specification with professionally designed fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances, living room, with French doors leading out to a balcony or a patio area, master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and some with a further bedroom, bathroom and a study, which can be used as an additional third bedroom, dining room or hobby room.

Located at the southerly end of the highly desirable Glebelands Estate, the development is just a short walk or bus ride away from the bustling town centre of Wokingham, a historic and sought-after market town. As well as a wide range of shops, including a Waitrose supermarket and Marks and Spencer, there’s a library, post office and a monthly farmers’ market offering fresh, local produce.

For entertainment there are a number of restaurants and traditional pubs to suit every palate as well as Wokingham Theatre, renowned for its varied productions, from classic Shakespeare to modern musicals.
For transport links the town’s mainline station has direct rail links to London in just over an hour and Reading in approximately 10 minutes. Ascot is just two stops away by train for an exciting day at the races. Both London and Bristol are easily reached by car via the nearby M4, while the M3 offers a rapid route to the south coast.
There are a number of activities with a choice of both pay and play and private members golf courses nearby, including the well-regarded Sand Martins Golf Club. Wokingham is also home to one of the best-known bowling clubs in the area. Affiliated to the Royal County of Berkshire Bowling Association (RCBBA), Wokingham Bowling Club offers much more than just bowls; the clubhouse is a great place to meet with friends and the members organise popular social events throughout the year.

Guide prices range from £250,000 to £600,000. For further information about Glebelands or to register your interest please visit www.glebelands-wokingham.co.uk or call 01628 536229.
