Country Life voted Midhurst as one of the most desirable places to live in Southern England. HG Wells, the famous novelist, described his fond memories of the town in his autobiography: “Midhurst has always been a happy place for me. I suppose it rained there at times, but my memories of Midhurst are in sunshine”. Midhurst dates back to medieval times and is full of character and charm including the magnificent romantic Tudor ruins of Cowdray House, the Montague family seat, that stand majestically over the town surrounded by the manicured polo lawns of Cowdray Park Polo Club.
